Tata's Ginger Hotels
Roots Corporation Limited (RCL) is a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Indian Hotels Company Limited (IHCL). Incorporated on December 24, 2003, RCL operates the first-of-its-kind category of Smart Basics™ hotels across the country.
IHCL operates Taj Hotels, Resorts and Palaces, one of South Asia's largest and finest group of hotels. The company was incorporated on 1902 by the founder of the Tata Group, Mr. Jamsetji Nusserwanji Tata and opened India's first luxury hotel, The Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, Mumbai in 1903.
Launched in June 2004, the Smart Basics™ concept created a revolution in the world of Indian hospitality. A GenNext category of hotels, they signify simplicity, convenience, informality, style, warmth, modernity and affordability. The concept was developed in association with renowned corporate strategy thinker, Dr C. K. Prahalad, and the hotels have been indigenously designed and developed by IHCL.
The first of the Smart Basics™ hotel was launched in Bangalore and was called indiOne. Having completed the test marketing of the concept and subsequent fine-tuning of the hotel facilities and services, the Smart Basics concept is now ready to roll out across India. These hotels have been launched with a new name – Ginger hotels – in sync with the fresh, simple-yet-stylish and warm world of Smart Basics™.
The Ginger hotels are built around a unique concept that provides facilities to meet the key needs of today's traveller, at surprisingly affordable rates. They have created a new category in the domestic hospitality landscape, while giving a major fillip to Indian tourism and other ancillary industries. The primary objective behind the launch of these hotels is to provide a superior product offering and consistent experience to travellers, beyond the present offerings in the industry.

Landowners
Argead also employs a joint-venture model, in which Argead works with a landowner to develop a property under a profit sharing, revenue sharing, or area-sharing arrangement.
Under a profit-sharing arrangement, all the costs associated with the project (construction costs, interest on working capital, etc.) are debited to the project account, after which the net profit is shared between Argead and the landowner in a predetermined ratio.
The revenue-sharing model allows the landowner and Argead to share the accruals from the sales proceeds in a predetermined ratio.
An area-sharing model is one in which the constructed areas of the development are shared in a predetermined ratio.
Combining the landowner’s asset with Argead’s expertise in property development is a win-win situation for both partners. Our experience has shown that this model delivers the landowner greater profits than an outright sale of the property. Argead bears the financial burden of the construction and is responsible for managing and marketing the project. Additionally, landowners receive the benefits of the Argead brand name and customer trust associated with the brand when selling the completed development.
Argead would like to invite landowners who believe that such a joint venture model would suit their goals. Due to company policy, we request that only landowners with projects with a minimum developable area of one-lakh square feet contact us. Thank you for your interest Argead looks forward to hearing from you in the near future. Please email us at information@argead.co.in if you wish to contact us.
